Panormo - Crete

Panormo is a seaside graphic village, which is located in the center of the North road axis, 22 kilometers to the East from Rethymno and 55 kilometers to the West from Heraklion, and has 400 permanent residents.

In the village and in the wider area there are a lot of landmarks which you have to visit. One of the most significant landmarks is the Early Christian Basilica of Hagia Sophia. The building of the Early Christian period (5th century) was excavated in 1948 and is the biggest Early Christian Basilica of Crete to date.

The lovers of natural landscapes will admire the estuaries of Geropotamos that form a beautiful pond and a wonderful graphic beach and is oriented exactly under the bridge of the highway.

At the cape Chondrokavos, that is about 800 meters from the village, there is a lighthouse, from which a visitor can take delight in the beautiful view of the dry land and the sea. The sunset from this place is one of a kind, maybe the prettiest one even of Oia in Santorini.
